We would like to invite all residents to a public open house to review and comment on the draft Official Plan with our consultant planning team. The Official Plan is a critical document for shaping the future of our Township. We want this plan to reflect the vision and needs of our community, so we encourage everyone to share their feedback.
An Official Plan is a legal document required by the province through the Planning Act that describes a municipality’s land-use strategy for growth and development. An Official Plan contains policies and maps that are used to guide planning and development by identifying where land-uses can and should be located. It is also a way to ensure the future vision of the community is managed in a way that balances social, economic and environmental interests of the Town.
A Statutory Public Meeting regarding the final recommended Official Plan will be held separately later and proper notice will be provided to residents and agencies. The Public Open House will provide an opportunity for Council to receive input from the public and stakeholders, prior to adoption of the Amendment. Once the Amendment is adopted by the Township, final approval of the Official Plan rests with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH).

TAKE NOTICE that the Township of Coleman invites all interested persons to attend a Public Open House to consider revisions and provide input on the Municipality’s Draft Official Plan (OP), pursuant to Section 17 requirements of the Planning Act, RSO 1990, as amended. As the Official Plan applies to all lands within the Township of Coleman, no location map is provided with this notice.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the draft Official Plan is to update the policies of the Official Plan to conform to and be consistent with provincial policy and to respond to community needs and visions for the future. This Public Open House is to provide the public with an opportunity to review and discuss the draft Official Plan in an informal setting.
