Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Township of Coleman held at the Council
Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Coleman Township, Ontario on Monday, September 9th,
2013 at 6:00 P.M.

STAFF REPORTS
Works Department
Mr. Brian Bigelow updated Council regarding preparation for Winter maintenance.
A part of the Refinery Townsite road (edge) will be repaired.
The municipal yard will be cleaned up prior to the ATV Rally.

Fire Department
Chief Laitinen advised the August course was very well attended.
An SP103 course was held September 7th – one Coleman Volunteer attended and will be able to
teach other Volunteers.
The Mutual Aid Meeting will be held in Englehart September 11th, 2013
The annual 911 Service will be held in Earlton this Sunday.
Fire Prevention Week will be held October 7th to 12th. An open house will be held October 12th
at the Coleman Fire hall.

Don Laitinen, as presented: Carried.
Administration
– The Clerk-Treasurer reported that Hydro One will be using the yard for their activity – they will
leave the yard in order for the ATV Rally
– H.D.Wash Steam dumped water in Sharp Lake – the Clerk-Treasurer to repot this to the
Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
– The burdock problem has been reported to Agnico Eagle Mines – Mr. Doyon will advise the
Township if permission is granted to access their property and hat will be permitted to control
the burdock..
– A grass problem was reported from Mileage 104,
– Mr. Seymour advised the dilapidated building on Roll 3-102 belongs to Crown and he has been
given permission for its demolition.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
1. ATV Rally
Councillor Cote updated Council regarding ATV Rally to be held September 21st, 2013.
Breakfast will be served at the Coleman Hall prepared by the Coleman Fire Department
The Lion’s Club will prepare the luncheon
the Supper will be catered by Gisele’s Catering in the Coleman Fire Hall.
There is an Early Bird Draw, 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes as well as various other prizes throughout
the day.
2. Purchase of truck and investment report
Councillor Marcella reported a meeting held with Ms. Janice MacPherson, CIBC, regarding the
Coleman Investments.
Councillor Marcella also reported on the funding for the purchase of the garbage/plow truck.
3. Recycling Report
Councillor Marcella presented a Recycling Report to Council explaining the objective, rational,
background, current state and financing. Council will review the report and discuss at the
next meeting.

Council reviewed correspondence regarding the application for another intern to take over
Ms. VanWetten’s position. This matter deferred to the next meeting.
4. Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation – Growth Plan for Northern Ontario
Mayor Cleroux read correspondence received from Northern Ontario Heritage Fund
Corporation regarding their program review.

Councillor Cote advised the next meeting of the Earlton-Timiskaming Airport Board will be
held September 19th, 2013. Mayor Carment Kidd is expected to attend the meeting to discuss
his Air Passenger Service proposal.
