Minutes of a Special Meeting held in the Council Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Coleman Township, on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.

There were present:

Township of Coleman Mayor: C. Belanger

Councillor: M. Allaire L. Perry

Clerk-Treasurer: C. Bigelow

The Timiskaming Health Unit advised the Boil Water Advisory issued on August 28th, 2006, for Coleman Town Water Users, is lifted except for one residence.

Correspondence received from the Honourable David Ramsay regarding Land Use Permits was reviewed. The issue of mechanized travel and access within the five Temagami provincial parks will be addressed in the park management plan being developed through the TIP process. The Planning Team will consider provincial park policies as well as provincial statutes and directives to guide their planning decisions. The Planning Team will also consider local environmental, social and economic conditions when developing the management document.

Correspondence received from the Town of Cobalt regarding the LaRose Bridge was reviewed. Council approved Cobalt’s request to lower the tonnage limit to 5 tonnes with exceptions being made for emergency, snow removal and road maintenance vehicles.

Correspondence received from Temiskaming Nordic Ski Club will be dealt with at the next regular meeting of Council.

Municipal Brownfield Consultation Session

The Ontario Provincial Police forwarded a letter expressing their appreciation for the Coleman Fire Department’s professionalism and skills when they attended a single motor vehicle accident on September 29th, 2006.

The Tri-Town & District Chamber of Commerce have extended an invitation to facilitate a “Candidates Night”.

The Ministry of Natural Resources have provided a Bear Wise Funding Application package. The Clerk-Treasurer to look into bear-resistant dumpsters, containers and Education/Awareness material.

Mayor Belanger declared October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Temiskaming District Assessment and Resource Service/Employee and Family Assistance Program is now available to residents.

A discussion was held regarding the “Ribbon Cutting Ceremony” being held October 14th, 2006
