Eligibility

To be eligible for a summer student position with the Township of Coleman applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age as of the first day of employment, and registered as a full-time student (i.e. secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program), and intends to return to full-time studies in the fall.


One (1) Swim Instructor position is available for eight weeks (Monday to Friday)

To be eligible, candidates must be a certified lifeguard and qualified swim instructor. The successful candidate will work in an outdoor environment at Bass Lake beach, and will teach and develop swimming strokes and skills for all levels of the Life Saving Society Swim Program. The instructor will also provide swimmer progress reports. During rainy days, the instructors will be expected to perform other duties that do not pertain to the Swim Program.

Qualifications:

  • National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification & Qualified Swim Instructor
  • Bronze Cross
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C

One (1) Lifeguard position is available for eight weeks (Monday to Friday)

During rainy days, the instructors will be expected to perform other duties that do not pertain to the Swim Program.

  • Standard First Aid/CPR C

Two (2) Summer Labourer positions are available for fourteen weeks (Monday to Friday)

The successful candidate will work in the Coleman Public Works Department and will work under the direction of the Works Foreman. Duties include, but are not limited to, basic gardening activities, including turf maintenance and weed control; park caretaking; painting;  garbage collection; and general maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Able to operate small tools and equipment (lawnmowers, weed eaters, power tools etc.)
  • Able to work with and without direct supervision
  • Able to perform physical work in an outdoor environment
