Minutes of a Special Meeting held in the Council Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Coleman Township, on Wednesday, May 20th, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.

Municipal Auditor: Ross Latter

Present: Wayne Alldis and Dan Cleroux

Mr. Ross Latter, Municipal Auditor, was in attendance to present the 2008 municipal audit. Mr. Latter reviewed the consolidated statement of financial position and activities with Council, read his letter regarding the municipal position at the end of 2008 and commented on some discussion points. Council signed Mr. Latter’s letter in connection with the Township of Coleman’s audit of the financial statements as of December 31, 2008.

Council reviewed the following correspondence:

– Kerns Township’s resolution requesting the resignation of DTSSAB’s representative

– Township of Centre Wellington’s resolution regarding Bill 221 WSIB Act 2007

– Industry Canada’s correspondence regarding Federal Environmental Assessment of BCF-CC Project 24587

– Ontario Family Fishing Weekend Steering Committee – National Fishing Week

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the-Clerk-Treasurer be authorized to request a survey of the Bass Lake Parcels including a survey of the leased parcel and easement. Buildings, septic system and well to be located on the survey. Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Clerk-Treasurer be authorized to purchase an ad in the Voice in the amount of $39.00 for Canadian Forces Day. Carried.

Motion 09-02-16 MOVED BY Lois Perry and SECONDED BY Ron Beeson:

WHEREAS the Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program targets stimulus to the economy through investments that will spur construction activity related to existing recreational infrastructure;

AND WHEREAS the Bass Lake Baseball field in need of upgrading and the construction of a backstop;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Township of Coleman will apply to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program for funds to construct a backstop and upgrade the Bass Lake Baseball Field.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Clerk-Treasurer be authorized to request a survey of the parcel request for the new business location on Dump Road. Survey and legal costs to be paid by the Business Owner. Carried.

Mayor Belanger will ask Works Foreman to purchase A gravel instead of limestone for municipal roads.

A discussion was held regarding the “Cobalt Refinery” site. The Clerk-Treasurer to contact the Temiskaming Health to ask that the buildings be condemned due to various hazards on site.
