Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Township of Coleman held at the Council Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Coleman Township, Ontario on Monday, March 9th, 2015 at 6:30 P.M.

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman approves Severance Application B2-15 (Gerald Cote). Carried.

Motion 15-03-08 MOVED BY Susan Cote and SECONDED BY Ken Laffrenier:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman approves Severance Application B3-15 (Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd) with the attached recommendation and conditions by Municipal Planner. Carried.

STAFF REPORTS

Works Department

Works Foreman, Brian Bigelow, reported on the water line freeze that occurred Monday, March 2nd, 2015. Five residences we affected on Kerr Lake Road, Upper and Lower O’Brien and Monk’s Lane. Water was restored, with the assistance of Pedersen Construction, to four of the homes on March 5th, 2015 and the last on March 6th, 2015. The Pollard residence also had a Council commended the Works Department and Staff for a job well done. frozen line on March 3rd, 2015 which was restored the same day by the Works Department. A debriefing meeting will be arranged for Council, Works Department, Town of Cobalt Water Operators and AECOM Engineers for the end of March.

Council commended the Works Department and Staff for a job well done.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the Works Department Report submitted by Mr. Brian Bigelow, as presented: Carried.

Administration

– Quebec and Montreal Street, Mileage 104 will be reviewed annually by Miller Paving – the final treatment will be deferred until such time as it is required depending on the condition of the streets.

– The street lighting on Nipissing Road will be reviewed by the Works Foreman who will report his findings to Council at the next regular meeting.

– LED Lighting was discussed. The Clerk-Treasurer will request quotes for the replacement of Coleman Street Lights with LED lighting.

– The Clerk-Treasurer to place a notice in the Weekender advising Coleman Residents to place a weight on their recycling containers in order to prevent their material from being scattered by the wind and wild life.

Bass Lake Committee

Councillor Perry reported on the Bass Lake Committee meeting held March 2nd, 2015.Documentation was reviewed and the 2015 budget was reviewed and amended. There has been no response, to date, for funding applications submitted.

Planning & Development

Councillor Laffrenier advised Mr. Chris O’Reilly has agreed to sit on this committee. Councillor Laffrenier requested a meeting with Council and the Municipal Planners prior to proceeding with the Committee. The Clerk-Treasurer to provide Councillor Laffrenier with a copy of the Official Plan which was previously been reviewed by Council.
