BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE General Accounts in the amount of $66,295.33 and Payroll in the amount of $24,549.49 be passed and paid. Carried.
Chief Laitinen reported:
– Coleman Fire Department hosted the Mutual Aid Meeting which was well attended. He commended Mayor Cleroux for his presence and welcome. He encouraged other Members of Council’s attendance at events.
– Chief Laitinen and Council will review and update the Automatic Aid Agreement with Latchford
– He requested quotes be obtained for a door for the kitchen counter
– A list will be made of necessary upgrade to the hall and bathrooms with respect to it being used as an emergency control centre for residents.
– all hydrants are shovelled out.

1. The Clerk-Treasurer reported on the latest correspondence from Hydro One regarding the Carriere Road Extension. The Clerk-Treasurer to respond to this request and obtain a quote from Cote’s Pole Line for this work.

WHEREAS municipalities are faced with requests from Commercial Fill Operators to place fill in, for example, either previously undisturbed areas or expired gravel extractions pits;
AND WHEREAS municipalities have limited resources and ability to regulate this type of operation;
AND WHEREAS the issue of soil quality of fill imported to a receiving site should be elevated to the Provincial level through the Ministry of the Environment which has established criteria for quality of fill for Brownfield redevelopment only;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman fully supports The Municipality of Clarington’s request that the Province, through the Ministry of the Environment, establish guidelines, regulations and a Provincial regulated approval process to govern the quality of fill imported to a receiving site other than for the purpose of Brownfield redevelopment.

WHEREAS Muskoka MPP Norm Miller has re-introduced his private member’s bill which would enhance public safety for the motoring public and promote active transportation in Ontario;
AND WHEREAS Mr. Mille3r’[s bill requires a minimum one metre paved shoulder on certain provincial owned highways to improve public safety for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists alike;
AND WHEREAS paved shoulders reduce accidents drastically and more opportunities are provided for recreation;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman fully supports MPP Norm Miller’s Private Members Bill top pave highway shoulder. Carried.
