STAFF REPORTS

Fire Department

chief Laitinen advised the Coleman Fire Department has responded to two calls recently, one to

a tractor trailer on fire and an other for a faulty alarm detector.

– A discussion was held regarding providing detectors to residents – wavers would have to be signed

by the residents prior to giving a detector.

– Bunker Gear will have to be tested in order to prolong the use of the gear instead of replacing the

equipment immediately.

– The Clerk-Treasurer advised Mr. Mawhiney’s driveway will have to be inspected in the Spring.

– The Ministry ofNatural Resources advised that Aggregate Designation cannot be done as there is

no process in place at this time

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

TransCanada Pipeline – Meeting regarding road upgrades

The Clerk-Treasurer will schedule a meeting with TransCanada Pipeline to discuss the upgrade of

various roads which are intersected by the pipeline.

Coleman Municipal Waste Site – report

Mayor Cleroux reported on a meeting with Mr. Brent Trach, Ministry of the Environment.

The Clerk-Treasurer to forward the report to Council.

Motion 15-02-12 MOVED BY Lois Perry and SECONDED BY Susan Cote:

WHEREAS the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport Joint Municipal Services board (MSB) made

a presentation on January 24, 2015 regarding the future of our Regional Airport;

AND WHEREAS the following two options have been presented for consideration by the member

municipalities of the MSB:

a) Incorporate the Municipal Services Board as Non-Profit Corporation and transfer the assets of the

airport from the Township of Armstrong to the Non-Profit Corporation;

AND WHEREAS the MSB has requested that each Council pass a motion indicating its preferred

option for further investigation;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Corporation of the Township of Coleman hereby endorses Option

_A_ for further investigation by the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport Joint Municipal Services

Board and that a copy of their findings be presented back to the member municipalities of the MSB

I at the conclusion of their investigation. Carried.

– Community Living Temiskaming South – per capita grant

World Autism Awareness Day

WHEREAS World Autism Awareness Day will be recognized on April 2nd, 20105, in Canada thanks

to Liberal Senator Jim Munson’s Bill S-206, An Act Respect World Autism Awareness Day;

AND WHEREAS Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects more than 100,000 Ontarians. Autism

Spectrum Disorder is now recognized as the most common neurological disorder affecting I in every

94 children, as well as their friends, family and community;

AND WHEREAS Autism Ontario is the leading source of information and referral on autism and

one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community;

AND WHEREAS Autism Ontario is dedicated to increasing public awareness about autism and the

day-to-day issues faced by individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals with whom

they interact.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Dan Cleroux, Mayor, do hereby declare April 2nd as World Autism

Awareness Day. Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Bass Lake Commitlee

Councillor Lois Perry reported on the recent meeting of the Bass Lake Committee. The use of a cabin

as a lifeguard shack has been proposed as a temporary solution for 2015. Mrs. Julie Buffam was

welcomed to the Committee – Mrs. Buffam is working to make the Bass Lake Railway Crossing safe

for all motorists and pedestrians. Councillor Perry will raise this issue with the Temiskaming

Municipal Association. Ms. Jennifer Milroy has expressed her interest in returning for the 2015

season.

Finance

The January financial report has been distributed to Council.

Councillor Cathy Marcella updated Council regarding the culvert replacement at Refinery Townsite

and Cross Lake Road. Prices. will be obtained from Miller Paving Limited for these projects.
