Minutes of a Special Meeting held in the Council Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Cobalt, on Wednesday, August 30th, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.

There were present:

Road Superintendent: A. Simpson

By-Law Officer: Ken Jones

Economic Development Committee: Dan Cleroux

Mayor Belanger read correspondence received from the Town of Cobalt regarding their proposed restructuring proposal. Mayor Belanger will request a copy of the restructuring proposal from the Town of Cobalt as the Township was only provided with a draft copy of the proposal. The Clerk-Treasurer will forward a copy of the correspondence and proposal to municipal lawyer and arrange a conference call for early next week. A meeting will also be arranged with the Council of the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Road Superintendent was in attendance to advise that non residents are depositing waste at the Township of Coleman waste site. Visitors go to the waste site every night to look at the bears which presents a dangerous situation for all concerned. It was decided that the gate will be moved to the bottom of the hill and the By-Law Officer will visit the site periodically. Violators will be prosecuted.

Road Superintendent Simpson advised a boil water advisory is in effect for six residences on Peter Street. No leaks can be located which would affect the chlorination levels. Mr. Simpson and Mr. Lapointe will continue to check the system to correct these fluctuating chlorination levels in the Coleman Distribution System.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-Law No. 06-23 being a by-law prescribing times for setting fires and precautions to be taken be read a first and second time. Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-Law Nol 06-23 be read a third and final time and be passed and enacted. Carried.

Motion 06-08-21 MOVED BY Marcel Allaire and SECONDED BY Lois Perry:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-Law No. 06-24 being a by-law to provide for advance votes to be held prior to voting day be read a first and second time. Carried.

Motion 06-08-220 MOVED BY Marcel Allaire and SECONDED BY Lois Perry:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-Law Nol 06-23 be read a third and final time and be passed and enacted. Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the part of the meeting dealing with these matters will be closed to the public. Carried.

Mr. Jones was in attendance to discuss the clean up of some properties.
