Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Township of Coleman held at the Council Chambers, 937907 Marsh Bay Road, Coleman Township, Ontario on Wednesday, August 25th, 2008 at 6:00 P.M.

Mr. Saxton was in attendance, on behalf of the Cobalt Kiwanis Club, to make a donation in the amount of $10,000.00 to the Township of Coleman to assist with expenses for the Swim and Recreation Program. Mayor Belanger thanked Mr. Saxton for the Club’s very generous donation to the Township for the Swim Program as well as their donation toward the relocation of the Cenotaph.

Councillor Perry advised the Coleman Fire Department Christmas Party was a great success this year and all who attended had a good time.

A discussion was held regarding the Sharp Lake Park Agreement between the Town of Cobalt and the Township of Coleman. The Clerk-Treasurer to provide a copy to Mr. Kemp for his review and comment. Two conditions to be included to the agreement are winter sand and an aggregate tonnage fee.

– 2009 International Plowing Match – ad for sponsorship

– City of Temiskaming Shores – participation in the Tri Town Transit

– Hydro One Networks’ newsflash regarding barcode plates on Joint Use Poles

– Nestle Waters Canada’s guide

The Clerk-Treasurer is authorized to sign Northern Tel’s maintenane agreement for 2009

Council reviewed the Federation of Canada’s call to action. The Clerk-Treasurer to submit the two infrastructure projects for the Township of Coleman – Coleman Water Distribution System and Municipal Roads.

Motion 08-12-20 MOVED BY Pat Tresidder and SECONDED BY A. Chitaroni:

WHEREAS there are two salvageable buildings in the Kerr Lake/Giroux Lake area that have some historic value;

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Township of Coleman deems that these buildings should be preserved;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman intends to declare the Drummond Manager’s House and the Giroux Lake Post Office as heritage sites.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Clerk-Treasurer be authorized to purchase an ad in The Voice in the amount of $19.00 – Honour Role. Carried.
