DEPUTATION

STAFF REPORTS

Works Department

Work Foreman, Brian Bigelow presented the February and March Plowing Report.

A discussion was held regarding Clean Up Week. Clean Up Week is intended for clean up of yards. Brush and construction material will not be picked up.

Fire Department

– Chief Laitinen and 3 other Volunteers attended the Northeastern Fire Education Conference in North Bay which provided great information. The focus of the conference was centered on safety and incorporated the new standards across Canada.

– Chief Laitinen received a communique regarding WSIB coverage for Volunteer Firefighters.

– The movement this year is on prevention and education. Volunteer Fighters will conduct an aggressive campaign this year enforcing regulation regarding Smoke and CO2 Alarms.

Administration

– Mr. Peter Monk attended the Taking Care of Your Drinking Water workshop. This workshop was mainly geared to Councillors and Water Plant Operator.

– J.L. Richards 2015 Road Asset List for the Asset Management Plan was distributed to Council.

– TransCanada Pipeline representatives will meet with Council and Mr. Brit Herd, Miller Paving on April 8th, 2015

BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-Law No. 15-10 being a By-Law to authorize the Mayor and Clerk-Treasurer to execute a funding agreement with Industry Canada (FedNor) for the Cobalt-Coleman-Latchford Economic Development Officer Project be read a first and second time. Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves K. Smart Associates Limited’s Phase 1 – Proposed Work Program for Coleman’s Waste Site for the quoted amount of 6, 250.00. Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Coleman approves The Corporation of the Town of Cobalt’s Annual Compliance Report and the Municipal Summary Report for the Cobalt Water Treatment Facility for the year 2014. Carried.

Council reviewed and discussed the preliminary 2015 budget.

A budget meeting is scheduled for April 14th, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
